According to the Roadmap, 46.8 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers of all types should be applied this year to increase soil fertility in the region.
To date, contracts have been concluded with manufacturers of mineral fertilizers for 37.0 thousand tons of fertilizers, including about 33.0 thousand tons shipped.
To achieve this indicator, since this year, subsidies have been implemented in advance to domestic plants, where only 40% is provided for by the agricultural producer, the other part of the cost is paid directly by the MIO to the manufacturer.
More than 60% of the purchased mineral fertilizers are of two types - ammonium nitrate and ammophos, the production of which is available in Kazakhstan (KazAzot JSC,
Kazphosphate LLP).
The only producer of ammonium nitrate (hereinafter – saltpeter) in the Republic of Kazakhstan with a production capacity of 350 tons per year is KazAzot Joint Stock Company. Saltpeter is used both in agriculture and in industry. The official representative of KazAzot JSC for the sale of saltpeter to domestic agricultural producers throughout the country has been DARKAN DALA Agrochemical Company LLP since 2013. Saltpeter is supplied in polypropylene big bags of 500 kg and bags of 50 kg.
In the East Kazakhstan region (hereinafter referred to as East Kazakhstan region), agricultural producers use saltpeter to increase the yield of oilseeds and cereals.
Several types of nitrogen fertilizers are used in agriculture, including in liquid form. One of the types of liquid nitrogen fertilizers is a carbamide-ammonia mixture (CAS-32) with 32% nitrogen content. CAS-32 is a broad-spectrum fertilizer used for growing various crops.
Since 2022, domestic production of CAS-32 LLP "Agrochemical Company DARKAN DALA" has been carried out in Ust-Kamenogorsk, which has the appropriate permits (licenses, registration certificate and certificates). The plant has all the necessary infrastructure: a production workshop (with a capacity of 6,000 tons per month), a tank farm, and storage facilities. As part of the investment project, work has begun on the design of its own railway dead end.
CAS-32 is becoming increasingly popular among domestic farmers every year, and therefore its production volumes are increasing to meet the need for it. Transportation is carried out in railway tanks, motor vehicles, eurocubes and other containers for the transportation of liquid fertilizers.
It should be noted that KazAzot JSC and DARKAN DALA Agrochemical Company LLP are included in the list of domestic producers. Their fertilizers are subsidized by the state according to transfer requests: saltpeter as part of an advance subsidy (60% of the cost of fertilizer), CAS-32 with a subsidy rate equal to 50% of the minimum market value.
For the successful implementation of spring field work in 2024, 1.6 billion tenge of subsidies are provided from the regional budget for subsidizing purchased mineral fertilizers (with the exception of organic ones).
