If your premises for keeping animals and birds or access roads to them may be subject to flooding, it is necessary to take measures in advance to protect your buildings, animals and birds from flooding.

Promptly clear the surrounding area, drainage ditches, and clear the roofs of buildings from snow.

Transfer valuable items of care and feed to the upper floors (attics).

Create a reserve supply of feed and water for watering farm animals and poultry for 5 days.

If you have animals and poultry in your personal subsidiary farm, determine the possibility of placing them in a place safe from flooding with the necessary amount of feed.

To carry out fastening works on the farmstead (to fix stacks, etc.).

Prepare the watercraft available for personal use.

Prepare the necessary material for the construction of bridges to cross over to the non-flooded area.

In case of receiving information about evacuation, it is necessary to take with you passports of veterinary treatments of farm animals, warm comfortable work clothes and shoes used in animal care, turn off electricity, close windows and doors in animal housing.

In case of flooding

If the building (room) in which the animals are located is warming, try to let the animals out of the premises and drive them to the nearest hill, and untie the dogs.

If the premises for livestock and poultry fall into the zone of possible flooding, take precautionary measures (sealing device). Create a supply of sandbags and trench tools, etc. to create a temporary barrier to water flows. Store coarse feed that can float away when the water rises in advance in a room (barn).

It is forbidden to water animals from open reservoirs, to feed feed in contact with incoming (flood) water.

Actions after flooding

Before entering the premises for livestock and poultry, make sure that there is no significant damage to the floors and walls.

Check the serviceability of electrical wiring, water pipes and sewers.

Dry the room by opening all doors and windows.

Do not use water from wells until they are cleaned of dirt and water is removed.
