Information about the objects of veterinary and sanitary control and supervision

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Veterinary Medicine", cattle burial grounds are one of the objects of state veterinary and sanitary control and supervision.

A cattle burial ground (biothermal pit) is a place for the long–term burial of corpses of agricultural and domestic animals that died from epizootics or were slaughtered in order to prevent its spread. Anthrax burials have a special protection and accounting status.

On the basis of Sanitary Rules, animal burial grounds and anthrax burials belong to hazard class I, around which a sanitary protection zone of 1000 m or more is established.

In the sanitary protection zone of soil foci of anthrax, it is not allowed to allocate land plots for agro-reclamation, prospecting, hydro-reclamation, construction works related to excavation and movement of soil from anthrax graves, flooding, as well as leasing, sale of land plots to personal ownership, allocation for gardens, vegetable gardens or land use.

In total, there are 157 animal burial grounds in the region, 41 of them are typical, 116 are primitive. 119 animal burial grounds are on the balance sheet of state veterinary organizations established by the local executive body of the region, 34 are on the balance sheet of akimats of districts (rural districts), 4 are owned by private individuals. There are also 101 anthrax burials, for which financial resources have been allocated from the regional budget for 2024 to bring them into compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements.

To check for the presence of anthrax virus spores in the burial area, soil studies are conducted annually, which show a negative result.

The maintenance of animal burial grounds in proper condition is one of the components of ensuring the epizootic well-being of the region.
