Opening of celebrations dedicated to the Victory Day in Uralsk.

- For each of us, may 9 is an eternal symbol of national glory and military valor. For 75 years we have been living under a peaceful sky, in an independent country, and our gratitude to the veterans, the older generation, who gave their strength and health to the cause of Victory, is immeasurable, the mayor of Uralsk stressed.

Head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressing gratitude to the veterans, noted that in the most difficult years, Kazakhstanis showed incredible courage and heroism. The workers of the village with their Titanic labor provided the front with food. We are deeply indebted to the older generation. Thanks to their courage, perseverance and patriotism, we live in peace and create our own bright future."
During the war years, more than 82 thousand of our countrymen went to the front from the Urals, 55 thousand of them laid down their heads on the battlefields for the sake of the life and freedom of their descendants. 39 of our countrymen were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, 6 – a full knight of the order of Glory. Today, before the Eternal flame, we bow to the heroism and courage of war participants, home front workers and say a thousand words of gratitude. We celebrate the heroic feat of our veterans who won the victory over fascism. Their self-sacrifice and bravery are an example for the current generation of Kazakhstanis. Today, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory, we bow our heads to those who did not live to see this great event. This day will forever remain in our history and the memory of the people, - said Abat Shynybekov.

He also said that much is being done in our country for veterans and participants of the great Patriotic war. By the anniversary date in Uralsk, all 48 veterans living in the city received one – time financial assistance in the amount of one million tenge, prisoners of concentration camps and participants in the siege of Leningrad – 120 thousand tenge, home front workers and widows of veterans-30 thousand tenge.
The updated Victory square also became a kind of gift. You can see that the memorial of Glory has been updated here, where the names and photos of our countrymen are immortalized. Separately built in tribute to the work of the logisticians, we have established the bas-relief, "bow to the Rear electroline".Along the alleys, honor boards were installed about veterans of the Urals, information stands telling about the role and contribution of West Kazakhstan residents to the victory and significant dates.
The open-air Museum of military equipment has become a kind of evidence of the war and the heroism of veterans. The famous "polutorka" of 1943, underwater mines and torpedoes installed on the square, were produced by our Ural plant, evacuated during the war. Zenit remains true to itself and is the flagship of the defense industry of Kazakhstan. All this will help to strengthen the spirit and patriotism of the younger generation.
Due to the introduction of quarantine in the region, the celebration of Victory Day is held in a new format, in remote mode. Online events have been prepared and will be broadcast on regional television and social networks.
- I wish all residents of Uralsk good health, happiness and well-being in the family! Let this Victory Day remain a holiday for future generations and no forces will disrupt the stability of our country!- noted Abat Abayevich.
