Demographic situation for January-May 2020

The population of the country as of June 1, 2020 amounted to 18735.9 thousand people, including urban –
11018.5 thousand people (58.8%), rural –7717.4 thousand people (41.2%).

Compared to June 1, 2019, the population increased by 246.2 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty city (62 thousand people), Nur-Sultan city (54.5 thousand people) and Turkistan region (35.5 thousand people).
