Demographic situation for January-April 2020

The population of the country as of May 1, 2020 amounted to 18711.2 thousand people, including urban – 11004.5 thousand people (58.8%), rural –7706.6 thousand people (41.2%).

Compared to May 1, 2019, the population increased by 242.4 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty city (63.7 thousand people), Nur-Sultan city (55.5 thousand people) and Turkistan region (33.1 thousand people).
