About fertility in 2019
In the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2019 RAGS (Civil registration) bodies registered 402 310 births and compared to 2009 the number of births increased by 12.9%. Number of live births in urban areas 239 496 people (59.5%), in rural areas 162 814 (40.5%) people.
According to the results of 2019 were born 208 038 (51.7%) boys, girls – 194 272 (48.3%). The sex ratio at birth was 107 boys per 100 girls.
Total fertility rate in 2019 amounted to 21.73 births per 1000 people (2009 - 22.14), in urban areas - 22.09 (2009 - 21.62), in rural areas - 21.22 (2009 - 21.75).
Among the regions of Kazakhstan, the highest birth rate was observed in the Mangistau (29.72 births per 1000 population), Turkestan (27.87) regions and the city of Shymkent (27.89). The least high birth rate was observed in North Kazakhstan (12.46), Kostanai (13.15) and Pavlodar (15.35) regions.
The total fertility rate (TFR) is the number of children born to an average of one woman throughout the entire reproductive period (15-49 years) - in 2019. In the republic it was 2.90 and over 10 years it increased by 9.4%, in urban areas - 2.75 and 5.4%, respectively, in rural - 3.17 and 16.1%.
Among the regions of the country, the highest level of TFR was recorded in Turkestan (4.29), Mangistau (4.02) regions, and the lowest level - in Almaty (1.78) and Kostanay region (1.81).
In 2019 the total fertility rate at birth order decreased compared to 2009, and for second and subsequent births increased.
In 2019 the average age of the mother at birth was 28.9 years (2009 - 27.4 years), in urban areas - 29.2 years (2009 - 27.6), and in rural areas - 28.5 years (2009 - 27.3).
In most regions of Kazakhstan, the average age of the mother at birth exceeded the republican level. In Almaty, this indicator was 29.8 years, and in Nur-Sultan - 30 years.
