Demographic situation for January-March 2020

The population of the country as of April 1, 2020 amounted to 18690.2 thousand people, including urban – 10991.5 thousand people (58.8%), rural –7698.7 thousand people (41.2%).

Compared to April 1, 2019, the population increased by 241.6 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty city (66.3 thousand people), Nur-Sultan city (57.9 thousand people) and Turkistan region (29.9 thousand people).
