Demographic situation for January-February 2020

The population of the country as of March 1, 2020 amounted to 18671.9 thousand people, including urban – 10932.3 thousand people (58.5%), rural –7739.6 thousand people (41.5%).

Compared to March 1, 2019, the population increased by 240.4 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3regionsof the country: Almaty city (65.6 thousand people), Nur-Sultan city (58.5 thousand people)and Turkistan region (33.1 thousand people).
