THE SITUATION IN THE LABOR MARKET

According to estimation, 8.8 million people were employed in economy in April, 2019*. Among the employed population, 6.7 million people (76.1% of the total employed population) were paid employees.

In April, 2019, the estimated number of unemployed population was 442.5 thousand people along with the unemployment rate – 4.8%. By the end of April, 2019, 160.7 thousand people were registered as an unemployed at the labor agencies. The registered unemployment rate was 1.8% of the labor force.

 

 

The disguised unemployment rate was 0.3% (31.2 thousand people) from the overall labor force in I quarter of 2019.

Methodical explanation

The unemployed persons who have had a profitable occupation (work), carried out a job search and were ready to start work.

Hidden unemployment (involuntary part-time employment) - shows the number of workers working in the reduced working week or incomplete working day, and also those having administrative vacations without saving salary or with partial earnings.

The hidden unemployment rate – the portion of economically active people who are partially employed and having forced vacations, measured in percentage.
