Considering regional consumption, it should be noted that in all regions of the country the level of the actual energy value of food consumed by the population exceeds the level of minimum energy value needs. The highest level of energy value of consumed food is in the Pavlodar and in the Almaty regions, and the lowest ─ in cities of Shymkent and Nur-Sultan.

If one considers the chemical composition of food consumed by the population, then it can be noted that the largest proportion is carbohydrates. Proportion of carbohydrates (bread and cereal products) in the diet of the rural population is higher than in the urban area. The proportion of food products with a high content of fat and proteins (meat and meat products, milk products and eggs) is higher for urban residents than for rural ones.
