About the number and staffing needs at large and medium-sized enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the beginning of 2022

According to the results of the survey of large and medium-sized enterprises[1], the expected need for employees (the estimated additional number of personnel (employees) needed this year to expand the company’s activities and implement new projects) for 2022 amounted to 11 396 people (0,5% of the list number of employees of the surveyed enterprises ).

The greatest need of enterprises is experienced in “professionals” 2 317 people, “service and sales workers” - 1 984 people and “workers in industry, construction, transport and other related occupations” – 1 858 people. Less in demand are “managers and civil servants” – 268 person.

The highest expected need for personnel was noted in the industry (2 697 people), wholesale and retail trade; car and motorcycle repair (1 705 people), in transport and storage (1 163 people); in аdministrative and support services (1 054 people); in health and social services (929 people). The total share of these types of economic activity in the total expected need for an employee was 66.2%.

The highest expected need for employees by region was noted in the city of Almaty and amounted to – 4 776 person, in the city of Nur-Sultan – 2 975 person, in the Almaty regions – 621 person. The greatest need for personnel in Almaty city is wholesale and retail trade; car and motorcycle repair (1 137 people) and in industry (925 people); in city of Nur-Sultan - in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (633 units) and in information and communication (527 units); in Almaty regions - in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (271 units), in industry (168 units).

[1] Statistical information is collected from large and medium-sized enterprises and organizations that carry out all types of economic activity, except: financial and insurance activities; government and defense; compulsory social security; activities for the provision of other services.

The list of occupational groups of occupations is determined in accordance with the National Classification of Occupations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by order of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 11, 2017 No. 130-od.

In compiling information about vacant workplaces, both vacancies vacated due to the dismissal of workers and newly created jobs as of January 1 of the current year are taken into account.

As of January 1, 2022 the number of vacant jobs at the surveyed enterprises amounted to 46 170 units (or 1.9% of the list number of employees of the surveyed enterprises). The most of the vacancies were noted in the occupational group “workers in industry, construction, transport and other related occupations” – 10 590 units (22.9% of the total number of vacant jobs), “professionals” – 10 128 units (21.9% of the total number of vacant jobs). The vacancies in the professional group “production equipment operators, assemblers and drivers” were – 7 618 units, “servise and sales workers” – 5 533 units.
