The situation in the labor market*

In the IV quarter of 2021, 8,8 million people were employed in the economy of the republic. Among the employed population 6,7 million people (76,1% of the total number of employed) were employed.The number of unemployed (according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization) amounted to 450,4 thousand people

In the IV quarter of 2021, 320,9 thousand people were employed in temporary and piecework work, 32,9 thousand people were employed in seasonal work, and 8,5 thousand people had casual work. 400,5 thousand people were engaged in the production of products for sale and exchange in personal subsidiary plots.

Due to the decrease in the volume of work (part-time work) and the initiative of the employer, 224,3 thousand people worked on a reduced schedule. The number of temporarily unemployed, due to the suspension of activities, amounted to 2,5 thousand people.

Officially, at the end of January 2022, 138,7 thousand people were registered with employment agencies as unemployed. Applied to the employment authorities as a job seeker 68,4 thousand people. The share of registered unemployed was 1,5% of the labor force.

*The data was formed on the basis of the results of a sample survey of population employment.
