Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

For the year (December 2021 to December 2020) Inflation is 8,4% Prices for food products increased by 9,9%, non-food products – by 8,5%, paid services – by 6,5%.

The increase in prices for cars was 14,7%, household appliances – 8,6%, construction materials – 7,9%, tableware – 6,4%, stationery, furniture and household items – 6,1%, detergents and cleaning products – 5,6%, clothing and footwear – 5,5%, personal goods – 5,3%. Diesel fuel has risen in price by 46,5%, liquefied gas in cylinders – by 36,8%, gasoline – by 19,6%, coal – by 9,8%, firewood – by 8,2%.The increase in prices was noted for sunflower oil by 30,1%, potatoes – by 20,2%, poultry meat – by 17,9%, fresh vegetables – by 17,1%, lemons – by 15,8%, lamb – by 15,5%, granulated sugar – by 15,3%, cereals – by 14,2%, pears – by 12,1%, horse meat – by 11,7%, pasta – by 11,2%, flour, bakery and flour products – by 10,3%, pork – by 10,1%, tea – by 9,4%, bananas – by 8,6%, beef – by 8,2%, sausage products – by 8%, pasteurized milk – by 7,6%, bread, fermented milk products – by 7,4%. Tobacco products rose in price by 14,5%, mineral and drinking water – by 12,3%, fruit and vegetable juices – by 8,9%, alcoholic beverages – by 7,3%.

The price level for sanatorium services increased by 9,8%, education – by 7,9%, insurance – by 7,8%, hairdressing and personal service establishments – by 6,5%, catering – by 5,8%, healthcare – by 5,4%, hotels, legal services – by 5%, passenger transport services – by 4,5%. Rent payments increased by 19,8%.

In the sphere of housing and communal services, electricity tariffs increased by 9,3%, garbage collection – by 7,5%, gas transported through distribution networks – by 5,5%, sanitation – by 1,8%, cold water – by 1,2%, and central heating – decreased by 2,8%, hot water – by 1,5%.

The consumer price index, which characterizes the inflation rate, shows the change in prices for goods and services purchased by the population for personal consumption. The set of goods and services includes 508 positions. Price registration is carried out according to a selective network of trade and services enterprises of various ownership forms in all regional centers, the capital and a certain circle of cities and regional centers. The system of weights used for aggregation in terms of their expenses is calculated based on materials from household surveys for the previous year.

Since January 2021 during the construction of the CPI, the share of food products is 39,1%, non-food – 29,6%, paid services – 31,3%.
