The situation in the labor market*

In the III quarter of 2021, 8,8 million people were employed in the economy of the republic. Among the employed population 6,7 million people (76,1% of the total number of employed) were employed.The number of unemployed (according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization) amounted to 4507 thousand people, the unemployment rate - 4,9%.

The labor market is recovering. In the III quarter of 2021, the number of those who worked less hours at their main job, due to a decrease in the volume of work (part-time work) or the initiative of the employer, compared to the II quarter of 2021, decreased by 5,3 percent and amounted to 242,9 thousand people.

The number of temporarily unemployed, due to the suspension of activities, amounted to 3,6 thousand people. Of these, 19,7% - transport and warehousing, 15,5% - provision of accommodation and food services, 15,3% - art, entertainment and recreation.

Officially at the end of October 2021, 193,5 thousand people were registered with the employment authorities as unemployed. The share of registered unemployed was 2,1% of the labor force.
