The short-term economic indicator in January-August 2021compared with January-August 2020 was 103.9%Calculation of the short-term economic indicator is implemented to ensure efficiency and is based on the change in output indexes for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, constituting over 60% of GDP.

The volume of investment in fixed assets in January-August 2021was7329.5billion tenge, which is 1% more than in January-August 2020

Industrial output in January-August 2021 was 22979.1 billion tenge, which is 2.4% more than in January-August 2020. The decrease was recorded in the mining and quarrying (by 1.4%). Mean while, there is an increase in the in the manufacturing industry (by 5.8%), electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned (by 5.9%), water supply, collection, processing and disposal of waste, industrial pollution elimination activities (by 8.2%).

The volume of gross output (services) of agricultural, foresty and fisheries in January-August 2021was2887.9 billion tenge, which is 2% more than in January-August 2020

The volume of the construction works (services) in January-August 2021 was 2715.4 billion tenge, which is 11.4% more than in January-August 2020.

In «Transport and warehousing» sector the volume index in January-August 2021 was 98.6%.

The volume of freight turnover in January-August 2021 amounted to 379.7billion ton-kilometers (given the estimation of the volume of turnover of individual entrepreneurs in volved in commercial transportation), which increased by 0.8% in January-August 2020. The volume of passenger turnover was 62billion passenger-kilometers and decreased by 27.6%.

In «Communication» sector the volume index in January-August 2021 was 112.8%.

In «Trade» sector the volume index in January-August 2021 was 109.1%.

The volume of retail trade in January-August 2021 was 77988billion tenge or 106.1% as compared to January-August 2020 (in the comparable prices).

The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2021 was 16687.3billion tenge or 110.5% as compared to January-August 2020 (in the comparable prices).

The foreign tradeturnover of Kazakhstan in January-July 2021was536931million US dollarsandcompared to January-July 2020 it increased by7.4% (in nominal terms), including export – 32030.2millionUS dollars (10.6% more, in nominal terms), imports – 21662.9 millionUS dollars(3% more, in nominal terms).

The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2021 was 474542 units and compared with the corresponding period of the previous year increased by 3.9%, including 465902 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating entities was 344719, including 336315 small businesses (less than100 employees)

The consumer price index in August 2021 compared to December 2020 was 105.8%. The food prices have increased by 7.5%, non-food – by 5.2%, paid services – by 4.4%. Prices of industrial products in August 2021 compared to December 2020 has increased by 35.2%.

Social sector

Per capita nominal income of the population estimated in July 2021 was 125607 tenge (preliminary data) which is 11.4% higher compared to July 2020, the real monetary income in July 2021 increased by 2.8%.

Average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (estimated) in Augist 2021 was 256455 tenge

The number of unemployed people estimated in August 2021 was 450.8 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4.9% of the labor force. Number of persons registered with employment offices as unemployed at the end of August 2021 was 222.6thousand people or 2.4% of the labor force
