Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

For the month (June 2021 to May 2021), prices for food products increased by 1,7%, non-food products – by 0,8%, paid services – by 0,7%.

The increase in prices was noted for carrots by 1,9 times, beets – by 1,5 times, potatoes – by 40,7%, sunflower oil – by 5,6%, lamb-by 2,7%, cereals – by 1,8%, sugar – by 1,5%, poultry meat, horse meat – by 1,4%, meat products – by 1,1%, pasta, bread – by 0,8%, fresh fruit, tea – by 0,7%. Mineral and drinking water rose by 1,3%, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages – by 0,9%. A decrease in prices was recorded for cucumbers by 33,2%, tomatoes – by 14,2%, eggs – by 13,9%, garlic – by 11%, bananas – by 6%, oranges – by 2,9%.

The increase in prices for household appliances was 2,2%, furniture and household items – 1,9%, construction materials – 1,5%, cars – 1,3%, clothing and shoes – 0,7%, dishes, detergents and cleaning products, personal goods – 0,6%. Diesel fuel rose by 1,8%, liquefied gas in cylinders – by 1,4%, gasoline – by 0,3%.

The price level for the services of sanatoriums increased by 3,7%, the organization of complex recreation – by 3%, hairdressers and beauty salons – by 1%, hotels – by 0,9%, visits to the bath – by 0,8%. Travel by air passenger transport rose by 22,7%, by intercity bus – by 2,4%.

In the sphere of housing and communal services, tariffs for gas transported through distribution networks increased by 1,7%, electricity – by 1%, sanitation, cold water – by 0,5%, and hot water – decreased by 2,7%.

The consumer price index, which characterizes the inflation rate, shows the change in prices for goods and services purchased by the population for personal consumption. The set of goods and services includes 508 positions. Price registration is carried out according to a selective network of trade and services enterprises of various ownership forms in all regional centers, the capital and a certain circle of cities and regional centers. The system of weights used for aggregation in terms of their expenses is calculated based on materials from household surveys for the previous year.

Since January 2021 during the construction of the CPI, the share of food products is 39,1%, non-food – 29,6%, paid services – 31,3%.
