Demographic situation for January- November 2020

The population of the country as of December 1, 2020 amounted to 18852.8 thousand people, including urban – 11129.2 thousand people (59.0%), rural – 7723.6 thousand people (41.0%).

Compared to December 1, 2019 the population increased by 241.7 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty (62.7 thousand people), Nur-Sultan (48.1 thousand people) and Shymkent (36.4 thousand people) cities.
