Demographic situation for January-October 2020

The population of the country as of November 1, 2020 amounted to 18833.1 thousand people, including urban – 11109.8 thousand people (59.0%), rural – 7723.3 thousand people (41.0%).

Compared to November 1, 2019, the population increased by 240.4 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty (64.8 thousand people), Nur-Sultan (48.9 thousand people) and Shymkent (36.4 thousand people) cities.
