Demographic situation for January-September 2020

The population of the country as of October 1, 2020 amounted to 18809.2 thousand people, including urban – 11087.5 thousand people (58.9%), rural – 7721.7 thousand people (41.1%).

Compared to October 1, 2019, the population increased by 238.9 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty (63.9 thousand people), Nur-Sultan (49.5 thousand people) and Shymkent (32.8 thousand people) cities.
