Demographic situation for January-August 2020
The population of the country as of September 1, 2020 amounted to 18785.0 thousand people, including urban – 11066.2 thousand people (58.9%), rural – 7718.8 thousand people (41.1%).
Compared to September 1, 2019, the population increased by 237.5 thousand people or 1.3%. During the period under review, the greatest overall increase was observed in the 3 regions of the country: Almaty (63.1 thousand people), Nur-Sultan (50.0 thousand people) and Shymkent (31.8 thousand people) cities.
