War veteran Valentina Volkodav has passed away

Today, World War II veteran Valentina Arkhipovna Volkodav passed away. The akim of the region Gauez Nurmukhambetov expressed his sincere condolences to the veteran's family and friends.

Valentina Arkhipovna went to the front at the age of 19. She served in a bridge-building unit on the Belorussian and Ukrainian fronts — under enemy fire, she built bridges and provided crossings for advancing troops. She traveled all the way from the Volga to Berlin. She was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, and numerous medals. After the war, she worked for the good of her homeland — she worked as an accountant at a ceramics factory in Tselinograd, and for the last 30 years she lived in Petropavlovsk.

"Despite the difficult trials of war, Valentina Arkhipovna always remained cheerful, strong and bright. This year she celebrated her 103rd birthday, delighting those around her with her cheerful spirit. Blessed memory to a true Hero," the head of the region wrote on social networks.
