Since the beginning of the flood period in the North Kazakhstan region, there have been no flooding of residential buildings. This was reported by the Akim of the region Gauez Nurmukhambetov at a government meeting.
He noted that 27 overflows were registered in the region on national and local roads, which stopped within 4-5 days. Overflows remain on 2 sections.
In the region, work has been completed to restore and strengthen 8 protective dams, equip a bypass channel near the Petropavl hydroelectric complex and correct the bed of the Yesil River in the Sokolovka village area. At the expense of an economic entity, a bypass channel was built in the village of Novonikolskoye to remove the threat of flooding of the settlement. The work of these channels has proven its effectiveness. More than 1.5 million m3 of snow have been removed from populated areas, 400 thousand m3 of melt water have been pumped out, 200 thousand bags of containers have been laid, and blasting operations have been carried out, which has helped prevent flooding of residential buildings and infrastructure.
Monitoring of the flood situation is carried out using drones, which will subsequently be reoriented for the fire-hazardous period.
"River and lake levels are being monitored around the clock. Today, the peaks of the first and second flood waves are passing through the city of Petropavl. The peak of the third wave is expected, due to the rise of the Zhabay and Kaluton rivers of the Akmola region, with its arrival at the regional center by the end of April. This does not pose a threat to populated areas. The flood situation is under constant control," Gauez Nurmukhambetov emphasized.
