Flood prevention measures are ongoing in the region. To date, 1.3 million cubic meters of snow have been removed from populated areas of the region, of which 900 thousand cubic meters are in Petropavl. Currently, city services are focused on pumping out melt water, especially in the Bereke, Rabochyi and Birlik microdistricts.
Today, the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region Gauez Nurmukhambetov inspected the situation and the work being carried out in the Birlik microdistrict, and talked to residents. At the moment, 20 motor pumps and 10 sewage trucks are working in this microdistrict to pump out water, and special equipment from the fire service is also involved. Irrigations have been dug to drain water, and construction of a storm sewer is planned for this year.
An operational headquarters, located next to the Apelsin store, is operating to receive requests from residents of the Birlik microdistrict. After a request, teams promptly travel to addresses to pump out water.
"I will continue to regularly travel and monitor the situation on the ground to ensure prompt response and minimize the consequences of floods in the region," the head of the region wrote on social networks.
