NKR youth discusses the future of ecology: Results of the events "Eco IQ: Taza Kazakstan" and "Eco-generation"

On March 18, 2025, environmental events were held in Petropavl, organized within the framework of the republican program "Taza Kazakstan" initiated by the Head of State. On this day, students, schoolchildren and representatives of the city's public gathered to discuss current issues of ecology and nature management. As part of these events, the Business Game "Eco-generation" and the intellectual game "Eco IQ: Taza Kazakstan" were held, in which more than 100 people took part.

Business Game "Eco-generation"

The event, which took place in the G. Musirepov library, brought together about 60 participants, including students, schoolchildren, labor veterans and specialists from Chainyi Mir LLP. The main goal of the game was to create conditions for exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of ecology and to attract the attention of young people to the importance of careful treatment of Kazakhstan's natural resources.

After the welcoming speech of the organizers and speakers, the participants divided into several teams and began to solve environmental problems. Quiz questions were shown on the screen, during which the children tested their knowledge of the state of the environment and natural resources of Kazakhstan. The participants also assembled an environmental puzzle dedicated to the wonderful corners of the country's nature.

"It is very important for us that young people realize that ecology is not just a problem of nature, it is a problem for each of us. The sooner we start working on ourselves and our attitude to the world around us, the better our future will be," Abdin Damir, head of the Youth Resource Center of Petropavl, said.

Particular attention was paid to the presentation of medicinal herbs growing in Kazakhstan and the importance of preserving vegetation for traditional medicine. Participants were also able to taste tea made from these herbs and learn recipes that are widely used in folk medicine.

“Ecological culture begins with simple but important steps. A careful attitude towards plants and nature should become part of our lives, especially among young people. I am very glad that such initiatives are becoming more and more popular,” Kristina Karimova, a teacher at the Department of Geography and Ecology at NKSU, added.

Intellectual game “Eco IQ: Taza Kazakhstan”

At the same time, the Higher College named after M. Zhumabayev hosted the intellectual game “Eco IQ: Taza Kazakstan”, in which 50 students from city colleges took part. The game included three rounds, where teams competed in their knowledge of ecology and cleanliness, and also showed creativity in solving environmental problems. In one of the rounds, the participants had to quickly answer questions on the topic of ecology, in the other — take part in role-playing games, representing different stakeholders: environmentalists, government representatives, business and city residents.

Sayazhan Kaliyeva, coordinator of the volunteer movement "Iskorki", shared her impressions of the game:

"It is very joyful to see how students show interest in ecology. Today's game showed that young people are not only aware of environmental problems, but are also ready to seek solutions, take part in dialogue and work in teams. We must continue to develop this area and deepen knowledge about the importance of cleanliness and conservation of natural resources."

After summing up the results, the winners were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts, and all participants expressed a desire to continue participating in such projects in order to contribute to improving the environmental situation in the region.

Importance of such events

Both events showed how important it is to involve young people in discussing environmental issues. They not only raise awareness of the current state of the environment, but also contribute to the formation of a responsible attitude towards nature. As Viktor Viktorovich Spiney, chief specialist of the Department of Natural Resources and Nature Management Regulation of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region, emphasized: "Ecology is not just a topic for conversation, it is our real concern. Such events help to form the right attitude towards nature among young people, and also provide a chance to teach people the right environmental practices."

In conclusion, the participants of all events expressed gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to get acquainted with important environmental topics and emphasized that such events should become regular in order to maintain public interest in environmental protection issues.

Under the auspices of the republican program "Taza Kazakstan", various environmental events were held in all districts of the region
