"Today, at the age of 97, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Kozhatay Seitakhmetovich Nekibayev, passed away. I express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the hero," Aidarbek Saparov, Akim of the region, wrote on his page in social networks.
Kozhatay Nekibayev went to war at the age of 17. He fought on the 2nd Ukrainian Front, liberated Romania, Austria and Czechoslovakia. I met the victory in Vienna. For courage and bravery on the battlefields, Kozhatay Nekibayev received the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd class, and various medals.
After the war, the front-line soldier served as a tanker for another three years. He returned to his homeland and received a pedagogical education. He has been a primary school teacher for over 30 years. Together with his wife, they raised 10 children.
“Literally last Victory Day I visited a veteran. Kozhatay Seitakhmetovich until his last days showed amazing fortitude, kindness and inner strength. He willingly shared his military stories and gave wise advice. The veterans of that terrible war gave us a happy and free life. We must always remember and respect their exploits, and tell the next generations about them,” the akim of the region added.
