One of the oldest railway stations in the country has changed beyond recognition

A railway station has been opened after a major reconstruction in Petropavlovsk today. The akim of North Kazakhstan region Kumar Aksakalov shared that news in social networks.

“On New Year’s Eve, a gift was made for our residents and guests of the region. After three years of reconstruction, the railway station of the city of Petropavlovsk was opened,” — the akim of the region wrote.

Only the walls remained from the old station. During the reconstruction, modern technologies were applied. Everything has changed: the most reliable security system has been introduced, the number of seats in the waiting room has been doubled, from 300 to 600 seats.

“Most importantly, our station has become convenient for visitors. Modern lockers are installed. The live queue has been replaced by an electronic one. Elevators and escalators are installed. Now, there is no need to climb stairs with heavy luggage. Passengers can wait for their train comfortably, without fuss and inconvenience. The station square has noticeably changed,” — the head of the region added.

This is the first global reconstruction of the station in half a century since its foundation in 1966.

“Now, one of the oldest stations in our country has become one of the most beautiful,” — Kumar Aksakalov concluded.
