In North Kazakhstan region, young people tested their environmental knowledge in the intellectual game "Eco IQ: Taza Kazakstan"

Efforts to foster environmental awareness among young people continue in the North Kazakhstan region. One such event was the intellectual game "Eco IQ: Taza Kazakstan." The event was part of the Taza Kazakstan program, which is currently being actively implemented in North Kazakhstan region. As the Head of State has repeatedly emphasized, caring for cleanliness, order, and the environment must become part of everyday society. This is why the region is increasingly focusing not only on practical environmental initiatives but also on educational outreach to young people.

The intellectual game aimed to raise students' awareness of urban cleanliness and environmental issues, and to develop critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. In the first round, teams answered questions on the topic of ecology and cleanliness. The tasks covered both general topics and specific facts, including questions about legal waste disposal regulations. In the second round, participants competed in a brainstorming session, where they raced to explain relevant terms and definitions to their teammates.

"The idea for these intellectual games arose as part of our initiative to raise environmental awareness among young people. Our goals are not only to educate students but also to develop critical thinking and teamwork. Therefore, we decided that the game would be an excellent platform for discussing current environmental issues, such as waste sorting and biodiversity conservation. We hope that the participants will be able to apply the knowledge they gain in their daily lives," Almagul Gabbas, event organizer, youth policy specialist, and front office coordinator for the Birgemiz volunteer organization, noted.

Such interactive environmental events are already becoming a good tradition in the North Kazakhstan region. In recent years, as part of "Taza Kazakstan" and other regional initiatives, more and more events have been held specifically for young people, with an emphasis on engagement and practical participation. This format helps not only raise important environmental issues but also reinforce them through discussion, collaboration, and personal involvement.

A student Madi from Higher College also took part in the intellectual game. He said that participating in this format not only broadened his horizons but also allowed him to feel connected to an important social issue.

"I was amazed at how much interesting information could be learned in just one hour. During the game, we not only competed but also exchanged opinions, sharing our ideas and proposals for improving the environmental situation in our city. Each flag not only represented a specific country but also symbolized important environmental issues and initiatives. This added an element of surprise and excitement. Overall, participating in this game was not only an interesting experience for me but also an opportunity to contribute to an important cause. The topic of ecology is important to me, and I believe that everything starts with us—with small steps," student Madi Kaliyev shared.

Following the game, participants were awarded diplomas and small prizes for their efforts. Winners received diplomas for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with healthy treats. Results were assessed based on the correctness of the answers and the teams' efforts.

Petropavl also hosted an environmental cleanup event, "Cleanliness is Respect for History," aimed at improving and tidying up areas adjacent to monuments. During the event, participants cleaned and tidied up, while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of respecting historical heritage, as caring for monuments begins not with flowers, but with the cleanliness of the surrounding area. The event emphasized the importance of young people's personal contribution to preserving the city's cultural memory and environmental well-being, and also contributed to the development of a sustainable civic stance based on respect for history and responsibility for shared space. Such events in North Kazakhstan clearly demonstrate that the environmental agenda is becoming an important part of youth policy and educational work. Through intellectual formats, lively communication, and teamwork, young people in North Kazakhstan are developing a conscious attitude toward cleanliness, order, and environmental conservation.
