The akim of the region conducted an aerial survey of the flood situation

Today, the akim of the region, together with district akims and the North Kazakhstan Department of Emergency Situations, conducted an aerial visual monitoring of flood-prone areas in the region.

A comprehensive aerial assessment of the current hydrological situation and the progress of spring processes was provided. The flight covered the Shal Akyn, Musirepov, Yesil, Aiyrtau, Akzhar, Ualikhanov, and Taiynsha districts. River channels flowing into the Bolshoi and Malyi Tarangul lakes, the Shagalaly River, and the Shagalaly and Seleti reservoirs in the Akmola region were also surveyed.

— The moisture content of Bolshoi Tarangul Lake is 74% lower than last year's level;

— A significant decrease in snow cover has been observed in the Yesil district;

— In a number of areas, the risks are localized and associated with the influx of meltwater and weakening ice conditions;

— A slight increase in water levels has been recorded along the Shagalaly River, although indicators remain below last year's levels, and a gradual weakening of the ice cover is observed.

In coordination with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akmola branch of the Kazvodkhoz Republic State Enterprise, preliminary water releases from the Seleti Reservoir began on February 28. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safe passage of the flood period and minimizing the risk of a sharp rise in water levels.

Due to rising air temperatures, the transition to the active phase of spring processes is predicted to begin on March 25—intensive melting of the snow cover, the formation of meltwater runoff, and a further weakening of ice conditions.

The situation is being constantly monitored. All relevant services are working in an enhanced mode.
