Today, the akim of the region met with athletes participating in the XIV Winter Paralympic Games in cross-country skiing and biathlon.
A total of 10 licenses have been won by Russian athletes, seven of which are from our region. Yerbol Khamitov, Aleksandr Gerlits, Sergey Usoltsev, and Vladislav Kobal will compete on the national team at the Paralympic Games. An additional list of participants will be announced on February 17, and Denis Zinov may be added. Nadezhda Morozova will also represent our region in speed skating on the national team at the Olympic Games.
"I wish our athletes good luck, confidence, and outstanding performances. The entire region will be rooting for you and supporting you at every competition! Paralympic sport is a shining example of how equal opportunities and government support help unlock human potential. Our region is systematically developing inclusive sports. The Umit sports club for people with disabilities is successfully operating," the head of the region noted.
As part of the President's directive to open inclusive sports centers in Petropavl, construction of a physical education and fitness center for people with disabilities is planned with the support of the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Corporate Fund and the Kazakhstan Health Foundation.
