The North Kazakhstan region joined the international environmental campaign "World Clean Up Day." Large-scale cleanup days and greening events took place throughout the region, bringing together approximately 10,000 people.
The head of state repeatedly emphasized the importance of environmental education and greening the country as part of the nationwide campaign "Taza Kazakstan." In support of this idea, residents of North Kazakhstan region took to the streets to clean and improve their territories.
Dozens of organizations, students, volunteers, members of parliament, members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, representatives of businesses of all types, the Association of People's Movements, and concerned residents took part in the event. Particular attention was paid to greening during the event. Saplings were planted in new parks created on the sites of houses demolished after the flood.
"All the groups actively responded to the opportunity to make the city cleaner and greener. "A huge thank you to everyone who pitched in. Around 1,500 saplings are planned to be planted across the city today. I'm confident that together we will make our city and region cleaner, greener, and more comfortable to live in," Nurlan Kenesov, Deputy Akim of the region, said.
The event brought together people of all ages and professions — from students to business workers, government employees, and retirees. Everyone was eager to contribute; no one wanted to be left behind. The courtyards of the buildings were also bustling with activity — residents themselves were collecting trash, sweeping, and tidying up the grounds.
"My neighbors and I agreed in advance on who would do what — some would collect trash, some would trim branches. We started out early in the morning. We want the courtyards to be clean. Events like these are inspiring — you feel like you're not alone, that there are people around you who care," Aigul Sarsenova, a resident of Petropavl, shared.
Young people were especially active during the environmental event. Students and volunteers eagerly participated in the work, as it is the younger generation that shapes the country's future.
"All these events and initiatives foster environmental awareness and responsibility among young people and residents of the region. Since the beginning of the year, 290 youth events have been held in Petropavl as part of the "Taza Kazakstan" program, and 1,200 throughout the region," Damir Abdin, Head of the city's Youth Resource Center, said.
The shared idea of cleanliness and caring for nature united residents of all districts of the North Kazakhstan region. There, people also worked together to clean up streets, parks, and squares, remove trash, and plant trees, demonstrating the importance of preserving their native land.
"Residents of the Mamlyut district also actively supported the event — about a thousand people participated. Today, approximately 300 saplings are planned to be planted in the district. "We plan to plant more than two thousand trees during the autumn planting season," Yelena Stepanenko, Akim of the Mamlyut district, said.
As a result of the environmental campaign, more than 405 tons of waste were collected and removed from the region. Residents of North Kazakhstan also planted more than 2,500 saplings. "World Clean Up Day" demonstrated the high level of civic responsibility of residents of the North Kazakhstan region, becoming an important step in fostering environmental awareness and strengthening their responsibility for preserving the natural environment of their native land.
