The environmental film screening "Green Cinema" was held in North Kazakhstan region, organized by the regional Youth Resource Center in conjunction with the Volunteer Front Office. The event was part of the national environmental campaign "Taza Kazakstan," initiated by the Head of State.
The screening of the documentary "Sea of Fishing Nets and Garbage" was part of a larger effort to educate young people about environmental issues. The film addresses current issues of Caspian Sea pollution, the consequences of human impact on nature, and the role of each person in protecting the environment.
"The main goal of the event is to foster a responsible attitude toward nature through visual art and open dialogue. We believe that such films can not only inform but also inspire real action," Oksana Goncharenko, coordinator of the Volunteer Front Office of the NKR, noted.
This initiative fully aligns with the objectives outlined by the President of Kazakhstan, who emphasizes the priority of the environmental agenda and the need to foster a new environmental culture, particularly among young people. In his Address to the Nation, the Head of State repeatedly emphasized the importance of citizen engagement in environmental protection and the implementation of sustainable development principles.
Following the film screening, an interactive question-and-answer session was held, during which participants — students, volunteers, and young activists — not only shared their impressions but also asked pressing questions on environmental issues. The discussion took place in a lively dialogue with the organizers and experts, covering a wide range of topics — from waste sorting and plastic recycling to participation in local eco-initiatives.
Young people were interested in how to minimize their own environmental footprint, where they can learn volunteer eco-skills, and what measures are being taken in the region to conserve natural resources. Particular attention was paid to the role of each person in solving global environmental problems.
"After watching the film, I felt both sadness and inspiration. The scale of pollution is shocking. But I realized that even small steps, like volunteering to clean up, can save someone's life. This film served as a reminder that nature needs our help," volunteer Abylkhaiyr Kaidar shared.
The organizers emphasize that these visual formats allow them to convey the seriousness of environmental challenges to young people more deeply and engage them in real change. After just a few similar events, dozens of new volunteers have joined the ranks, actively proposing their own environmental initiatives.
"We are confident that the Green Cinema should become a tradition. Only through joint efforts — through education, engagement, and concrete actions — can we make the environment cleaner, as required by the national sustainable development program," Goncharenko emphasized.
