Eco-picnic in Petropavl: how the youth of NKR are shaping a green future within the framework of “Taza Kazakstan”

On July 18, an unusual holiday for the city rhythm was held on the lawn opposite the Dinamo stadium in Petropavl — an open-air ecological picnic “Taza Tabigat — Taza Bolashak”. It became part of the broad initiative “Taza Kazakstan”, launched at the initiative of the Head of State, and united caring residents of the city, volunteers and youth organizations.

The organizer was the Public Association “Shtab JE SKO” with the support of the volunteer front office “Birgemiz”. The event was held in an informal but meaningful atmosphere: here they did not just talk about ecology — they lived it. From the very first minutes, the participants found themselves in a friendly and warm atmosphere: bright eco-posters, activity and recreation areas, and most importantly, a keen interest in the topic of environmental protection. The organizers tried to make the format accessible and engaging: the program included teambuilding games, an environmental quest quiz, a tea area, board and active games, and, of course, a plastic-free picnic.

"We wanted ecology to be perceived not as a strict science, but as part of everyday life. Simple actions — waste sorting, refusal of plastic, conscious consumption — can become a habit if you show how easy and enjoyable it is," Anastasiya Volkova, Head of the volunteer front office, noted.

The eco-picnic also became a platform for strengthening team spirit. In team tasks and quizzes, young participants learned not only to work together, but also to find environmental solutions — from proper waste disposal to ideas for reducing the carbon footprint.

"We involve young people in socially important activities through understandable and lively formats — communication, interaction, games. This is motivation, prevention, and support for initiatives," Dayana Baimukanova, Head of the NGO "Shtab JE SKO " explained.

As part of the picnic, only eco-tableware was used, and waste was sorted by fractions. Participants not only heard about the principles of a sustainable lifestyle — they practiced them on the spot

The event became a meeting place and inspiration for those who are already involved in the volunteer movement and those who are just taking their first steps. Volunteers shared their experience and motivation.

"I have participated in environmental initiatives more than once. They develop caring. After such meetings, you want to continue moving in this direction,” Damir Taigulin, a volunteer of the “Pomosh Ryadom” movement and a participant in the “Zhasyl El” program, added.

The eco-picnic in Petropavl is not an isolated event, but part of a large environmental movement that covers the entire country. The “Taza Kazakstan” program is aimed at forming an environmental culture, sustainable habits and involving citizens in real actions to protect nature.

The organizers are confident that it is such informal, “live” events that help to form a responsible attitude towards the environment. And when environmental ideas become personal experience, they turn into a lifestyle.
