Petropavl is increasing its tourism potential

The North Kazakhstan region is actively developing the tourism industry, combining natural resources with the cultural and historical heritage of the region. The Imantau-Shalkar resort area remains a priority, but the regional center, the city of Petropavl, is also becoming increasingly attractive.

Thanks to its rich architectural appearance, historical sites and updated infrastructure, the city is considered a promising point of attraction for tourists. To date, 28 tourist routes have been developed in Petropavl, covering the main attractions: the Residence of Abylay Khan, the Botanical Garden, the Konstitutsii Kazakhstana pedestrian street — one of the longest in the world, the House of the Bride, the Pestroye Lake, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts. Excursion tours are offered by both travel agencies and the regional tourist association.

In order to expand the hotel stock in the city center, the construction of the Samovar Hotel has been completed. The opening of the facility is scheduled for July of this year. The investment volume amounted to 1 billion tenge, the hotel is designed for 68 beds.

A hippodrome with horse riding services is located five minutes' drive from the city.

Recreation areas in the suburbs are also actively developing. On Voroniy Island, the recreation centers "Green Wood", "Sosnovy Bor" and "Kyzylzhar" continue to operate.

A large investment project for the construction of a health resort complex with 500 beds is being implemented on the territory of the former children's camp "Volna". The complex includes sports and recreation, entertainment and residential blocks. To date, 12 year-round barn houses, cafes, gazebos of various capacities, a stage with a canopy, sports grounds for football, volleyball and badminton have been put into operation, as well as tables for table tennis. Team tactical paintball games are held for 20-30 participants. Sports equipment rental is available: skis and snow tubes in winter, bicycles and SUP boards in summer. In addition, a new tourist base of Nomad Tourism LLP is being built at the entrance to Petropavl. The project involves the construction of eight A-frame houses. The total investment is 1 billion tenge. Systematic work on the development of tourism infrastructure contributes to the formation of a favorable image of the region, attracting investment and the growth of domestic tourism.
