Caring for nature is in our hands: how the eco-marathon "Green time" went in NKR

A useful and unifying eco-marathon "Green time" was held in the North Kazakhstan region within the framework of the republican program "Taza Kazakstan" initiated by the Head of State, aimed at improving the environmental situation and nurturing environmental culture among the population.

The event was organized by the Public Association "Shtab JE SKO" with the support of the Akimat of North Kazakhstan region, as well as the volunteer front office "Birgemiz". The eco-marathon became part of the project within the framework of organizing work on the development and support of the volunteer movement of the region, aimed at involving young people and active citizens in solving pressing environmental problems of the region.

The venue was the picturesque shore of Pestroye Lake – one of the favorite recreation areas of the city residents. It was here that dozens of volunteers came – students, representatives of NGOs and caring citizens to unite for a common goal – to make their native land cleaner. The marathon began with a musical warm-up, which set a cheerful and friendly tone for the entire event. The participants enthusiastically got down to work: collecting garbage, sorting waste, communicating and sharing their thoughts on the importance of caring for nature.

But "Green Time" is not only about cleaning the territory. The main goal of the event is education. The participants were told about the consequences of improper waste disposal, the importance of separate waste collection and the personal responsibility of each person for the state of the environment.

As Anastasia Volkova, head of the front office of "Birgemiz", noted: "The most important thing is that we did not just clean the territory, we set an example. Such initiatives form a caring attitude towards nature in people, instill a culture of environmental responsibility."

For many participants, this marathon was their first environmental experience.

"I am participating in an eco-marathon for the first time, and it was really cool! "I didn't expect that cleaning the territory could bring such a feeling of pride and unity,"  Nurgalyk Dara Ruslankyzy, a student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, shared her impressions.

At the end of the event, each participant received certificates, sweet gifts with the symbols of "Taza Kazakstan" and, most importantly, a sense of accomplishment.

"We didn't just clean the territory – we showed an example of how small steps can lead to big changes. Every year we see more and more involvement. This means that our society is becoming more environmentally educated and conscious," Dayana Baimukanova, head of the NGO "Shtab JE SKO" noted.

The eco-marathon was not just a clean-up event – it turned into a real holiday of environmental unity. And everyone who took part in it contributed to the preservation of nature and the cleanliness of their native land. One thing is clear: Kazakhstan's ecological future begins with such initiatives – uniting, inspiring, changing consciousness.
