SEMINAR FOR MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES COVERING ISSUES IN THE FIELD OF RELIGION

In order to increase the effectiveness of a balanced information policy in the religious sphere, on August 15, 2023, the head of the Department for Religious Affairs of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region R. Kasenova held a meeting with a pool of journalists of the region covering religious issues.
The mass media, being today the most important means of social communication in the field of countering terrorism and extremism, are designed to provide timely and reliable information about the events taking place.
The participants of the meeting considered the basic principles of covering situations related to extremism, recommended ideologies and guidelines for the media, terminology and concepts used. The head of the authorized body in the field of religion stressed that mistakes, misinterpretation of various religious issues can have a negative impact on the perception of published materials, create conditions for social contradictions on religious grounds.
At the end of the event, methodological recommendations developed by experts of the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the media and journalists were discussed.
