On July 7, the opening of the Pilgrims’ House in honor of John Paul II took place in the village of Ozernoye, where Cardinal of the Vatican Robert Sarah, Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican in Kazakhstan Archbishop Francis Assisi Chullikatt and Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church Tomas Peta arrived for illumination.

The village of Ozernoye is one of the holy places of our region, as well as a place with a rich history and unique sights, which is visited annually by hundreds of pilgrims from all over the country. The construction of a Pilgrim’s House is an important step not only for the development of the village, but also the possibility of a comfortable stay for pilgrims and visiting tourists.

In his welcoming speech, Cardinal Robert Sara stressed that Kazakhstan is an example of interfaith harmony, and noted that other countries need to adopt this invaluable experience.

In her greeting, R.I. Kasenova noted that the House of Pilgrims will be open to all who cross its threshold with good thoughts, that peace, harmony and mutual understanding will always reign here, and expressed gratitude to the Roman Catholic Church for its active role and constant support of interfaith and intercultural dialogue between different peoples.

After the lighting of the Pilgrims’ House, the celebration of the triumph of St. Mary, the Queen of Peace, took place.
