Visiting a Catholic shrine

Visiting a Catholic shrine

On June 9 of this year, as part of a working visit, German Ambassador Monica Iversen visited the oldest Catholic shrine in Kazakhstan — the Roman Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Petropavlovsk. The temple was built in 1911-1912 by descendants of exiled Poles and Germans. It is a cultural monument of regional significance and one of the main city attractions. The distinguished guest was met by the dean of the Roman Catholic Church Lakhta P.Ya. and the head of the Department for Religious Affairs Kasenova R.I.

At the end of the meeting, Monica Iversen was presented with a monument to the victims of the totalitarian regime on the territory of the temple.
