This year has become a kind of international "Year of Abay". In many countries of the world, the 175th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayuly is celebrated on the initiative of Kazakhstan and with the support of UNESCO.
As part of the implementation of the CIS interstate program, according to the plan of events held in the online format "Shymkent 2020-the cultural capital of the CIS", the online readings among the Commonwealth countries "Word of Abay" will be held from August 10 to 30, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Kazakh poet – thinker Abay Kunanbayuly. Participants from the CIS countries will read Abay's works in their native language or in Kazakh.
Events in the online format will be organized in cultural and art institutions of Shymkent city from August 10 .
In particular, a virtual book exhibition "Alem tanygan Uly Abay" will be held in scientific-universal library "Otyrar", the online readings, excursions, literary and music evenings "Abaydyn sozi – kazaktyn boytumary", "Asil sozdi izdesen, Abaydy oky erinbe!", "World of Abay" will be held in the library named after Abay, in the children's and youth libraries, an cognitive hour "Abaydy kalai tanidim?!" will be organized in the center of customs and rituals.
In the Kazakh academic drama theatre named after Zh. Shanin will host the online broadcast "Abay Beinesi", city Russian drama theatre conducts online program "Way of Abay", city Uzbek drama theatre is organising an exhibition of the online drama "Abay" by M. Auezov, the city theatre of Opera and Ballet - online-concert "Abay Armany", city theatre of Humor and Satire- poetic and dramatic online performance on the Abay's work, the city puppet theatre and young spectatoris organizing the poetic online-drama "Dara Tulga", Shymkent Circus is organizing an online concert jazz orchestra "X-BAND".
