More than 2 million masks, 88 tons of disinfectants, and more than 166 thousand sprays have been released in Shymkent since the day of emergency declaration in the country. This was announced by the mayor of the city M. Aitenov during the briefing.
The mayor said that the administration had taken a number of important measures to prevent the rapid spread of the infection in the metropolis. The infectious diseases hospital in the city has increased beds for coronavirus from 300 to 450 and a provisional hospital for 320 beds and 1,416 quarantine places was opened.
"For the purpose of timely detection of Covid-19 infected citizens, measures for laboratory testing have been strengthened. In addition to the branch of the National research center, 3 additional laboratories have been opened in the city. As a result, the testing capacity per day has increased from 300 to 500. In addition, we will open 2 new laboratories and increase testing by 3 times. In April-May, 19,845 people were tested in PCR, which is 86%, " — said the mayor.
