SHYMKENT: FLOOD HAZARD IS UNDER FULL CONTROL

Yesterday, as a result of heavy rains the Badam and Sairam rivers overflowed their banks and flooded a number of areas of Shymkent. Currently, the appropriate assistance is provided in a timely manner and preventive work is being carried out in the Eltay and Karabastau residental areas. This was announced today at a briefing in the information and communication center by the head of the Department for emergency situations of Shymkent, Colonel of civil protection N. Derbisov.
- On May 13 at 19: 14, due to heavy rainfall, the water came in the residental area Eltay, Enbekshi district in 4 directions from the mountain slopes. The result was the failure of the irrigation ditch network and the damage in their yards. In total, 60 residential buildings and 60 outbuildings were flooded. 24 residential buildings among them were destroyed, resulting in the destruction of five outbuildings. Currently, the Department's specialists have carried out work on pumping water, and local Executive bodies are working on mechanical cleaning of ditches, " - said N. Derbisov.
