SHYMKENT: DANGER IN THE ELTAY RESIDENTIAL AREA AFTER RAIN HAS DECREASED
Today, Shymkent mayor Murat Aitenov visited the residential area "Eltay", which was damaged as a result of heavy rains. He instructed to immediately create a special commission on flood prevention and mitigation of flood consequences under the chairmanship of Deputy mayor of the city.
According to specialists, precipitation is expected in the next three days. Murat Duysenbekovich instructed to take under strict control the strengthening of measures to prevent unforeseen natural phenomena. In addition, the mayor said that appropriate measures will be taken against responsible officials who could not foresee an emergency.
We will remind that yesterday at 19:14, the water in the volume of 3-5 cubic meters began to flow in the settlement "Eltay", Enbekshi district from Tolebi district,Turkestan region as a result of heavy rainfall. Yards were flooded where the water level was 20-50 cm. In total, 60 houses were flooded and three outbuildings were destroyed.
57 employees, 14 units of special equipment and 14 MP-100 motor pumps of Emergency department were involved in emergency rescue operations in Shymkent. Water was pumped out by the Department forces, and employees of communal services of mayor's office carried out mechanical cleaning of ditches.
Currently, the necessary assistance is being provided by the competent authorities in order to ensure security. The situation is under constant control.
