Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his Address "Unity of the people and systemic reforms – a solid foundation for the nation's prosperity" noted that one of the problems in the agro-industrial complex is the inefficiency of food prices and their distribution. At the same time, he spoke about the implementation of this task to create wholesale distribution centers.
According to the city Directorate of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, a transport and logistics zone has been created on an area of 92 hectares in 2015 in order to form Shymkent as the largest transport and logistics hub in Central Asia. Currently, large projects are being implemented in this region, such as "Kazakhstan Logistics group" LLP, "RPA" Zerde" and "Continental Logistics Shymkent".
The region has dry and climatic warehouses, a container site, a railway dead end, an administrative and household complex, as well as a customs clearance center. In the future, it is planned to build another similar wholesale distribution center.
In addition, a wholesale distribution center has been opened in the shopping center "GraMaD" with an area of 11 thousand square meters for citizens to buy various goods at reasonable prices. It provides food, fruit and vegetables to more than 1,700 retail outlets in the city.
In addition, 14 storage facilities with a total capacity of 108 thousand square meters are located on the city territory. Of these, 6 are climatic and 8 are dry storage facilities.
In addition, in the period from 2022 to 2024, it is planned to build 2 new vegetable storage facilities ("KEREMET-Sapa" LLP, "GRAMAD RETAIL" LLP).
Currently, the above-mentioned vegetable storage facilities are able to store about 80% of the vegetable products produced in the city.
