THE CITY MAYOR GOT ACQUAINTED WITH THE WORK OF AL-FARABI LIBRARY
Shymkent city mayor Murat Aitenov visited today the city scientific and universal library named after Al-Farabi, where he got acquainted with the work being carried out. After getting acquainted with the advanced achievements in serving modern readers, the city mayor talked with the library staff.
The institution provides the population with library and bibliographic services and information services. Today the library has more than 400,000 books and 6,546 e-books. There are 18,600 readers, 128,000 visitors and 216,000 books. There are 96 employees.
Currently, the library participates in the active replenishment of the fund of the National electronic Library of Kazakhstan and kitap.kz. In the digital age, the library implemented a mobile smart project-a QR library. So, to date, the art works of about 60 local authors can be read by readers using a barcode on the library's website.
The library has clubs "Zhas tulek", "Barin bilgim keledi", "Murager", "Didarlasu", "Libclub", "Globus".
The library is a scientific and methodological center for libraries in the city.
