DEAR COMPATRIOTS! DEAR RESIDENTS OF SHYMKENT CITY !

DEAR COMPATRIOTS! DEAR RESIDENTS OF SHYMKENT CITY !
From my heart I congratulate you on our great holiday - Independence Day!
For us, there is no holiday more important than Independence. This is what our ancestors dreamed of for centuries. And we managed to realize this dream. That is why it is our common duty to cherish it at all time. The first President of the country-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev said: "It is not easy to achieve independence and tell about it. With the acquisition of freedom, the work does not end. We need a modern approach to preserving independence." These words should be in the memory of each of us.
Thanks to independence, the development of Shymkent city has reached a new level. Today Shymkent is the third metropolis of the country. In the two years that have passed since the decree of the Head of State on obtaining a special status of Shymkent, the city has entered a new path of development. The area of the city increased from 13 thousand hectares to 116.3 thousand hectares. Sociocultural dynamics have increased. In 2020, it became the cultural capital of the CIS and held this important event with honor.
In the year of Independence, the population of Shymkent was 400 thousand people, today it has reached more than 1 million people.
The city budget in 1994 was 1.0 billion tenge, today this figure is over 455 billion tenge. More than 2.6 trillion tenge of investments were attracted to the city's economy.
All of our achievements since independence are the result of the hard work of our citizens, who have worked tirelessly along this path. It is now up to all of us to appreciate what we have, to develop and to prosper. May our Independence be eternal. I wish our country continued prosperity, harmony, well-being and success to residents!

Murat Aitenov,
The mayor of Shymkent city
