The mayor's office of Shymkent discussed the implementation of the "Road map" for a comprehensive solution of environmental problems of the metropolis.
At the meeting with the participation of the Deputy mayor of the city Ye. Bilisbekov, the issue of improving the environmental culture of the population was also discussed.
The road map for improving the environmental situation in Shymkent provides for 29 measures. These include converting cars to natural gas, landscaping, waste management, and installing sewage treatment plants.
One of the main environmental problems of Shymkent is air pollution. Air pollutants are the city's largest enterprises, cars, and solid fuel boilers. Therefore, the city will install a device to detect air pollution.
In this regard, the Deputy mayor of the city noted that when installing indicators of air pollution, it is necessary to take into account the complaints of residents.
"It's a good idea to install a device in the city that shows air pollution. However, it should not be installed on Konayev Avenue, but in places where people often complain about air pollution. Konayev and Tauke Khan avenues are the highest points of the city and are wind-driven places. Therefore, it is inefficient to install the device there, " -said Ye. Bilisbekov.
Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Department of ecology in Shymkent city K. Beisenbayev said that the project aimed at solving environmental problems is currently under consideration by the Government.
"This year, emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere at enterprises have been reduced by 2,320 tons. Two production centers using coal fuel have been converted to natural gas. Work in this direction continues. The road map provides for studying the wind regime in Shymkent to prevent the concentration of harmful substances in the air. As a result, it will be possible to build tall buildings taking into account the wind direction," the head of the Department said.
Summing up the meeting, the Deputy mayor of the city said that the full implementation of the measures outlined in the" Road map " will lead to a number of positive results, and gave specific instructions to the heads of departments. He also noted the need for regular events to raise environmental awareness among the population.
