IRRIGATION DITCHES CLEAN-UP WORKS ARE UNDER WAY IN SHYMKENT
A number of works are carried out in Shymkent to prevent flooding of irrigation ditches during the autumn rains. At present, on instructions from city mayor, irrigation ditches on the streets are completely cleared of garbage.
Sanitary purification of 585 km of irrigation systems along the central streets and 9 rivers and canals with a length of 97.7 km (Koshkar ata, Karasu rivers and Aksai Karabastau, Shymkent, Zhana-Shek, Compas, Togys, Sasyk, Yntymak canals) of the Directorate of energy and housing and communal services of Shymkent city is under way.
In addition, 15.5 km of irrigation systems are under construction for 38 vulnerable addresses. In the course of these works a number of issues will be solved, such as Baidibek Street in front of the restaurant «Altyn Saray», Tolemetov Street in front of the stop of Aibol, Babashuly Street in front of the school No.115, Koscherova Street, Dorogo No.1 Railway Bridge, Tesik Copir Bridge in Zhibek Zholy Street

In addition, in order to prevent flooding, the 4.4 km of the canal from Kazbakaleitorg to Aimautov Street, where the main artery of the irrigation systems of the Zhana Shek canal will be built, is being overhauled. The renovation work is scheduled to be completed in November this year.
