Ministry of Internal Affairs: Seized more than 1000 units of firearms and traumatic weapons

Units to combat organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on a systematic basis carry out work to detect and seize weapons, ammunition and explosives.
Since the beginning of this year, during the operational-search activities, 20 units of firearms and traumatic weapons have been seized, including 4 stolen during the January events, as well as 6 grenades and over 150 ammunition of various calibers. Thus, the Organized Crime Control Department of the Almaty DP, together with the employees of the city's pre-trial detention center in the Turksib region, discovered a cache where 3 sawn-off shotguns, 3 pistols, 4 grenades and about 50 cartridges were seized, as well as a carbine stolen from a weapons store during the January events. Similar joint operational activities of UBOP and DUIS were carried out in Taraz, where a cache with 2 sawn-off shotguns and a combat crossbow, also stolen during the January riots, was found. In Aktobe, UBOP operatives and penal institutions on the territory of the horticultural society seized a TOZ rifle with 56 cartridges and a F-1 grenade.
