A meeting on the Prevention of torture in institutions was held in Mangistau region

The Department of the UIs of Mangystau region held a meeting on clarification of national legislation, practical measures to prevent torture in institutions. It was attended by Deputy Head of the UIS Gabit Chutabekov, head of the Department for supervision of the legality of the execution of criminal penalties of the prosecutor's Office of Mangistau region Asylbek Asanov and the leadership of the public Control Commission of the region Alexander Mukha and Rolan Abkadyrov.
It should be noted that Kazakhstan is a participant in more than 70 multilateral international treaties, including the Universal Declaration of human rights and 8 UN human rights conventions.
During the meeting, amendments and additions to the criminal, Criminal Procedure and criminal executive codes of the Republic of Kazakhstan on human rights issues in the field of criminal justice, execution of punishment and Prevention of torture and cruelty were explained. Currently, it is known that continuous video surveillance has been introduced in the institutions of the Dis, as well as terminals for filing appeals of convicts.
They also discussed the legal measures taken to prevent torture, the plans of the UIS Department of the region for further interaction with the prosecutor's office and organizations in the field of protecting citizens ' rights from torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading acts and forms of punishment.
