75% of convicted women employed in sewing shop in Abay region

One of the many criteria for the correction of convicts is work, an indicator of their positive dynamics in the educational process.
50 female convicts were employed in the sewing workshop of RMC "Enbek-Semei" of women's colony No. 23 of Abay region. They now fulfill orders for tailoring uniforms of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan according to the approved model.
- At least 75% of the employment of convicted women is an opportunity to train certain professional skills, pay claims and provide financial assistance to relatives. As a result, helping them to correct, re-educate and further socialize them is one of the tasks of the penal system. All this forms a correct approach to the issue of social adaptation of convicts after their release," explained Gulnaz Baltabaeva.
About 200 convicted women serve their sentences in the women's colony. 50% of them are placed in workplaces of the institution. In the colony, in addition to the sewing workshop, private entrepreneurs are successfully conducting their work in the production of bakery products and semi-finished products.
- The presence of orders for our work in the sewing shop allows me to pay the court claim and help my children. We take responsibility for our work. But not everything works immediately. I learned to sew myself only here. I started out as a handyman, for example sewing buttons by hand. And experience and skills will come with time if you have the will. And now, after more than five years of working in a sewing shop, I can handle any order. I can confidently say that I will continue my work in freedom, - said the convict Irina about her work.
The task of employing convicts and creating jobs in places of deprivation of liberty is a priority for the state as a whole.
The implementation of the program of employment of convicted women is carried out in accordance with the state programs on employment of the population of Kazakhstan.
